En Plein Air Artist: Richard Inserra

On select weekends this summer, notable artists are invited to Ocean House to share their artistic vision and give a demonstration of their skills.

Richard Inserra will be painting en plein air on Ocean House grounds between 10:00 a.m. and Noon and 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. Richard will share how he creates his stunning oil paintings of Ocean House surroundings and his other work. Finished paintings will be available for purchase.

About Richard Inserra

Richard Inserra is a largely self-taught oil painter known for his impressionistic landscapes and seascapes. His work is inspired by other masterful artists such as J.M.W. Turner and Frederic Edwin Church and often includes sunsets or sunrises as part of his themes. Known for creating works that encompass atmosphere, motion and luminosity, Richard’s works can draw the viewer into the painting to see the additional details and creative touches. While mostly working with oil paints, Richard occasionally has been known to use acrylics and mixed media in his art to bring his ideas and inspiration to life.

Inserra is a member of the Artists’ Cooperative Gallery of Westerly, Rhode Island, the Lyme Art Association in Connecticut, and the South County Art Association.
