En Plein Air Artist: Jessica Shaffer

On select weekends this summer, notable artists are invited to Ocean House to share their artistic vision and give a demonstration of their skills.

Jessica Shaffer will be painting en plein air on Ocean House grounds between 10:00 a.m. and Noon and 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. Jessica will share how she creates her stunning watercolor and oil paintings of Ocean House surroundings and her other work. Finished paintings will be available for purchase.

About Jessica Shaffer

Rhode Island artist Jessica Shaffer shares her appreciation of coastal living through her plein air landscape paintings, working with watercolor and oil media. Drawing upon three decades of study and research as an ocean engineer, Jessica applies her understanding of the sea to her artistic process.

Her paintings capture the energy and tranquility of the coastal environment with vibrant colors and dynamic brushwork. Immersed in the beauty of nature, Jessica integrates her love for outdoor activities such as hiking and kayaking into her creative process, enabling her to capture unique vistas firsthand. She is an artist member of Harbor View Artisans in Wickford, R.I. and her works have been exhibited across Rhode Island. Jessica is also an associate director at Lily Pad Gallery in Watch Hill, RI
