On select weekends this summer, notable artists are invited to Ocean House to share their artistic vision and give a demonstration of their skills.
Jonathan McPhillips will be painting en plein air on Ocean House grounds between 10:00 a.m. and Noon and 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. Jonathan will share how he creates his stunning oil paintings of Ocean House surroundings and his other work. Finished paintings will be available for purchase.

About Jonathan McPhillips
Jonathan McPhillips, a Cum Laude graduate from Connecticut College with a BFA in Fine Art, celebrates the coastal splendor of New England through his captivating artwork. Equally adept at working in the studio or on location, Jonathan’s oeuvre encompasses harbors, beaches, vessels, and the distinct architecture of the coastal marine environment.
With an impressive list of awards and accomplishments, Jonathan’s artistry has garnered recognition on both national and international levels. His work has also been showcased in various U.S. embassies through the “Art in Embassies” program by the U.S. Department of State. Jonathan McPhillips’ recent accolades showcase his exceptional talent and dedication to his craft. In 2022, he received the “Best Light in the Landscape” Award at the Olmsted 200 Celebration, as well as the First Place Award in the Cape En Plein Air “Quick Draw” competition. He was also honored with an Honorable Mention at the 2022 Cape Ann Plein Air event. In 2021, Jonathan continued to make a mark in the art world by winning the First Place Award at Cape Ann Plein Air, earning the Second Place Award at the Perkins Cove Paint Out in Ogunquit, ME, and receiving the prestigious American Impressionists Society President’s Choice Award in Omaha, NE.
As an esteemed member of various professional art organizations, including the Providence Art Club, The Salmagundi Club, NY, and the above-mentioned American Impressionists Society, Jonathan continues to evolve and inspire with his evocative artwork, bringing to life the allure of coastal New England.
