Plein Air Artist Reception – Donna Mazzone

On select weekends this summer, notable artists are invited to Ocean House to share their artistic vision and give a demonstration of their skills.

Enjoy a glass of wine and a reception at Ocean House on a beautiful Sunday evening to meet the artist. Earlier in the weekend, details below, catch Donna Mazzone in action as the sea air, sweeping views of the Atlantic and more than 150 years of history serve as inspiration for a work of art.

About Donna Mazzone

Donna Mazzone is a Plein Air watercolor artist inspired by landscapes, seascapes and flora. Traveling throughout New England has been the source for much her painting. Trips to the Southwest and Iceland have also been inspiration for her work. Trying to capture a moment of that experience with a fresh and emotional response is an important goal with each outing. 

The watercolor medium allows the freedom to be more spontaneous and discover sometimes unexpected surprises in how the paint moves on the paper. It is fine balance between controlling and letting go to achieve results that are fresh and energetic. Donna spent a fulfilling and dedicated career as an art teacher. With a love for teaching, she instructs watercolor classes at times with the South County Art Association.

She is active in a member in many art organizations and exhibits in numerous juried shows. Her work has been shown at: South Kingstown Art Association – South Kingstown, RI; Wickford Art Association – North Kingstown, RI; RI Watercolor Society – Pawtucket, RI; Lyme Art Association – Old Lyme, Ct.; Mass Arts Center – Mansfield, Ma.; Spring Bull Gallery – Newport, RI

She is currently an active member in The Artists’ Cooperative Gallery of Westerly where she exhibits her work monthly.
