Join us in the Drawing Room for an informative look into Ocean House’s collection of work by Ludwig  Bemelmans, perhaps best known for his Madeline book series. Ocean House has more than 90 Bemelmans pieces, which is believed to be the largest private collection of its kind in North America.

“Ludwig Bemelmans and The Ocean House: The Ocean Liner Set and the Jet Set”

Stephen Lash–Chairman Emeritus of Christie’s and Ocean House’s Advisor to the Arts–is joined by Jane Curley for an in-depth discussion of the Collection. Ms. Curley has worked in print rooms of the Yale Art Gallery and The British Art Center, as well as the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art, where she organized a retrospective of Ludwig Bemelmans, among other shows.  She was the curator of “Madeline in New York: The Art of Ludwig Bemelmans,” held at the New York Historical Society in New York and the Carl Museum in Amhurst.

This complimentary event includes wine and cheese. All ages welcome.
