Plein Air Artist Series: Russ Kramer
On select weekends, local artists are invited to Ocean House to share their artistic vision and give a demonstration of their skills. Mr. Taynor will be on-site, painting from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm – location to be determined.
Enjoy a wine reception on The Putting Green at Ocean House on Saturday evening from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Throughout the weekend, catch the featured artist in action as the sea air, sweeping views of the Atlantic and more than 150 years of history serve as inspiration for a work of art.
This week, Russ Kramer showcases his unique blend of old fashioned and modern skills that place you right aboard the ships of his marine paintings. Paintings are available for purchase.
About Mr. Kramer:
Russ Kramer is widely regarded to be among the country’s leading marine artists. His large-scale studio paintings create ‘first-hand’ experiences for the viewer, putting you right on board during some of history’s greatest yacht races or turn-of-the-century luxury vessels.
Mr. Kramer has been the subject of a one-man show at the Museum of Yachting in Newport, Rhode Island, appeared in WoodenBoat, Yachting, and Sail magazines, and is prominently represented in the volumes Art and Artifacts of The America’s Cup by Hyland-Granby. He is a fellow and past President of the American Society of Marine Artists.
Mr. Kramer is also the author of “Great Yachts” which tells the fascinating stories behind the classic vessels and colorful personalities vividly depicted in his oil paintings. Includes chapters on Russ’ inspirations and his detailed methods in recreating the nation’s yachting history.
