Plein Air Painter Reception: Bobby Jones
Details
Artist in Residence: Bobby Jones
On select weekends, local artists are invited to Ocean House to share their artistic vision and give a demonstration of their skills.
Enjoy a wine and cheese reception in the Living Room on Saturday evening from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Throughout the weekend, catch the featured artist in action as the sea air, sweeping views of the Atlantic and more than 140 years of history serve as inspiration for a work of art.
Robert Jones a Westerly native drew often as a child, always carrying a sketchbook while other kids were playing. Summering along the Maine coast he often created art using the landscape as material and subject. After attending the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts he moved to New York, living and working first in Brooklyn and then Manhattan. For the past several years he has focused on painting the city, using the experiences and confidence gained along the way. Currently he paints the streets of Manhattan. The multitude of architectural elements is one of many reasons he finds the city so fascinating to paint. To see more of Robert Jones’s work, click here.
