Plein Air Reception

On select weekends this summer, notable artists are invited to Ocean House to share their artistic vision and give a demonstration of their skills.

Enjoy a glass of wine and a reception at Ocean House on a beautiful Sunday evening to meet the artist. Earlier in the weekend, details below, catch Serena Bates in action as the sea air, sweeping views of the Atlantic and more than 150 years of history serve as inspiration for a work of art.

About the Artist:

Serena Bates is a Westerly, Rhode Island local. Serena started her journey at the young age of 8 or 9 years old with the exploration and interpretation of the world around her through art. Beginning with pencil and paper sketches, Serena went on to explore a variety of media, including charcoal, pastel, and oil and acrylic paint, as she depicted landscapes, flowers, and animals. As a young adult, she studied traditional figure painting and anatomy at the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts and the Rhode Island School of Design.
