Enjoy a lecture from talented paper engineer Bruce Foster where he’ll discuss his personal journey into the world of pop-up book making. Enjoy complimentary coffee, tea, water and wine.

About Bruce Foster:

Bruce Foster, over a 30-year career, has created approximately 65 pop-up books for such major publishers as Simon & Schuster, Random House, Little, Brown and Co., Candlewick, Melcher Media, Insight Editions, Ottenheimer Publishers, and museums like the Museum of Modern Art. Bruce’s work was also seen in the opening and closing scenes of the Disney movie, Enchanted, starring Amy Adams.

A prolific speaker, Bruce shares his passion for the art of paper engineering with groups of all ages, but especially elementary school ages of five to twelve. In 2019 alone, he presented his program 175 times to exuberant acclaim across Texas. His presentation is a high energy mixed media thrill ride, utilizing movie clips, hands on examples, storytelling and audience participation.

Prior to and overlapping part of his career as paper engineer, Bruce has been an award-winning graphic designer and also served as Creative Director for the marketing and design firm of The Phillips Agency in Houston, TX.

Originally from a small plantation town in Louisiana, Bruce graduated from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a BFA in Studio Art with honors. He also attended the graduate program in studio arts there before exploring life in New Orleans, Fort Lauderdale/Miami and eventually settling down in Houston, TX with his wife Lori and two daughters, Nicole and Lydia, where he has resided for over 30 years.
